We are very excited to announce that Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery & Preschool East Sheen has been rated GOOD in all areas by Ofsted following our most recent inspection in June 2025.

This positive outcome reflects the passion, dedication, and hard work of our new leadership team and the entire nursery staff, who together create a nurturing, inspiring, and safe environment where every child can thrive.

A Warm and Welcoming Start for Every Child

Since our last inspection, we have undergone exciting leadership changes that have brought fresh energy and strong oversight to the nursery. One of the most significant areas of improvement has been the focus on emotional well-being.

From the moment children arrive, our staff work hard to build meaningful connections with both children and their families. These strong bonds ensure a smooth transition into nursery life and between rooms as children grow and develop. Parents frequently comment on how settled, safe, and happy their children are in our care.

Supporting Communication, Confidence, and Curiosity

Language and communication development is at the heart of our curriculum. Our practitioners are trained to recognise each child’s individual learning journey and use songs, rhymes, storytelling, and conversations to encourage children to use their voices and share their thoughts.

Whether it’s our toddlers copying actions during circle time or older children confidently expressing ideas during play, our children are supported to become articulate, engaged, and curious learners.

A Curriculum Full of Wonder

Our carefully planned curriculum is both balanced and well-sequenced, ensuring every child is supported to reach their next steps. Staff plan activities that spark curiosity and encourage children to explore the world around them, whether mixing magical “potions” as young scientists or chopping fresh vegetables to share with friends during mealtimes.

Our recent duckling hatching experience has been a particular highlight! The children loved observing the life cycle first-hand and enjoyed helping to care for the ducklings, sparking rich conversations about growth, nature, and responsibility.

Inclusion at the Heart of What We Do

We are proud of our inclusive approach. Staff are proactive in identifying children who may benefit from additional support, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Working closely with families, we adapt activities and routines to ensure every child feels included and supported.

As part of our ongoing professional development, staff are eager to deepen their strategies for supporting all children through daily transitions and routines. This reflective practice is what helps us continually improve and respond to children’s individual needs.

Strong Partnerships with Parents

At Monkey Puzzle East Sheen, we truly value our strong and collaborative relationship with parents. From the first settling-in visits to daily handovers and regular celebrations, we ensure families feel involved and informed at every step of their child’s journey.

Our staff are committed to open communication and actively share children’s learning, achievements, and milestones with families. Parents tell us they feel confident in our care and see the progress their children make.

A Committed, Confident Team

One of the strengths highlighted in our Ofsted report is our passionate and highly motivated staff team. Thanks to robust recruitment and tailored inductions, our staff feel confident and well-supported in their roles.

Team morale is high, and this positivity radiates throughout the nursery. Our practitioners are not only skilled educators but also kind and respectful role models who inspire children to be the best versions of themselves.

Preparing for the Future

Our focus on independence and school readiness ensures that children leave us prepared for the next stage of their learning. From toddlers pouring their own drinks to pre-schoolers following hygiene routines and using the bathroom independently, we encourage every child to develop confidence in their abilities.
